Synopsis:

On the northeast side of town, there is a house.
The house was once magical, filled with love and joy and plans for the future.
Inside its walls are many things that belong to me — my books, the china from my mother on my wedding day, the beautiful cage once home to two birds, now empty, just like me.
And a man.
A man who also belongs to me.
A man I no longer wish to keep.
A man who, no doubt, has not slept, though the sun is rising. Because the house where he waits is where I laid my head to rest every night for eight years. Until last night.
No one who knows me would believe Charlie Pierce, the quiet, bookish girl who never made waves is pulling out of the driveway of a man who isn’t her husband.
But they don’t know me at all.
I don’t even know me.
Not anymore.
They say there are two sides to every story, and I suppose in most cases, that’s true. But the one I live inside of? It has three.
On the northeast side of town, there is a house.
But there is no longer a home.

My Review:

I’ll be upfront with you guys now. I honestly don’t know how to write a review for this. And this review will probably just consist me of raving about the author herself and her masterpiece that is this book. Oh and my feelings will most probably be all over this review. Brace yourself.

I finished the whole book within a day. I stayed up the whole night reading and literally had to force myself to go to bed because I had classes the next morning. Having said that, I spent the whole duration of my class at the back corner of the room, huddled over my Kindle. I finally completed it on my way home, and I was…lost. I didn’t know which way was up and which was down. I might probably be coming down with the worst case of book hangover, which will only subside once I have the second book in my hand.

Every thought or assumption I had until the last 2/3 chapters or so, was wrong. When I finally thought I had it all figured out, Kandi Steiner proved me wrong. I am pretty sure she was having her evil laugh chanting, “what a naïve little girl” shaking her head at me.

deep breath

One twist after the other. My goodness.

While I don’t tend to read a lot of love triangle romances, something inside my gut said I needed to read this one. Was I scared shitless upon reading the synopsis? Hell yes. But I still loved every single second of it.

I trusted Kandi Steiner to not disappoint and to deliver a solid story. Suffice to say, she is holding up to her word.

You would think that just like any other love triangles, you would be able to pick a side. I couldn’t with this one, my heart is torn in two. I loved all three sides. My heart broke reading about their heartbreak, and I had a really hard time trying not to cry from all the emotions the three of them made me feel.

Okay, all ramblings aside, I would really like to say one thing. Don’t get yourself spoiled. It’s really hard to review this without giving something or the other away. Let the characters speak to you and tell you about their heartbreak and pain. Just trust Kandi Steiner and dive into this blind. You will not regret it, I promise.

5/5 stars.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa. She works full time as a social media specialist, but also work part-time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Steiner started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom the of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.
