SYNOPSIS:

Siena Calabrese is no longer the prized daughter of la famiglia. Her transgressions against her brothers and family have stained more than just her reputation. Her best chance at keeping breath in her lungs would be to sit down and shut up like she was taught to do. She definitely shouldn’t be feeding information to her family’s enemies. And yet, she is still willing to risk it all for a chance at forever with Johnathan Marcello. After everything, how could she not?

The disgraced one …

Johnathan Marcello’s life and secrets have now been put on display for everyone to see. There’s no hiding the things he’s tried to keep hidden, but maybe that’s the best thing that could have happened. Now he’s about to walk straight into a war between rival mafia families, and he’s got choices to make. His love is on one side, he’s on the other, and everybody is playing for keeps. He’ll play the game just as dirty as anyone else to get what he wants, even to the detriment of himself. For her, how could he not?

The shamed one …

It’s time that the forgotten king takes back his throne. It’s already been too long since it was taken from him.

But when has anything in this life been easy?

My Review:

I picked this one up right as I finished Loyalty. If you have been following my reviews, then you will know that Bethany-Kris has become my new favorite go to Mafia Romance Author.

Continuing off exactly where Loyalty ended, Disgrace is now right there with all the other books I have read and loved by this author.

There was so much character development from both the character’s perspective, especially John’s. I really loved how we got to see the world through John’s point of view, which I think is very important to totally get a grasp of the character and the pain he is going through. It was an amazing insight, especially for me since I’ve never been to before, and that really hooked me into the story. The plethora of emotions and thoughts that were going through his head and the fact that the author gave us a detailed look at it was amazing. I really loved that. The confusion, the uncertainty he had when it came to him and his family accepting the way he is. That showed a vulnerable side to John that I would say not many people get to see. That enriched the story even more.

Both Siena and John are very strong characters, and with the story they have grown too, proving their strength and determination. The love between them is indescribable and leaves no doubt in the reader’s mind that they are truly for one another. Their relationship was kept so real, especially considering their situation. Nothing was rushed, nothing was left unexplained. The events played up beautifully, the writing impeccable. The author left you on the edge of your seat, apprehending the worst yet eagerly anticipating for the happy ending we all knew they deserved.

This duet was phenomenal, to say the least. With every book, I love her writing more and more, and this duet was no different.
